FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
You’ve got questions. We’ve got answers.
What makes Missi & Co different?
Experience, yes — but more than that, perspective.
We’ve been doing this for over three decades, which means we understand what happens behind the walls, not just what goes on them. We know how decisions impact construction, timelines, and budgets — and we help you think through those choices before they become expensive surprises.
We’re also big believers in clarity. Clear communication. Clear documentation. Clear expectations. Our clients often tell us the process felt far less overwhelming than they expected — and that’s intentional.
We already have an architect or builder. Can you work with them?
Yes — and we love to.
The best projects happen when the entire team is aligned early. When we collaborate from the beginning, details are more cohesive, communication is smoother, and costly revisions are minimized.
Think of it as everyone rowing in the same direction.
Do you have preferred builders and trades?
Absolutely. After three decades in this industry, relationships matter.
We’ve built long-standing partnerships with professionals who respect the process, communicate well, and care deeply about craftsmanship. You’ll hear us say, “it’s not what you’re buying … it’s who you’re buying it from.” That said, we’re also happy to collaborate with your chosen team if the fit is right.
At the end of the day, it’s about creating the best possible experience for you.
How early in the process do I need to get in touch?
Earlier than you think.
Especially for new construction and large renovations, bringing us in during the planning phase allows us to provide input on layouts, cabinetry details, lighting plans, and material selections before they’re locked in.
There are thousands of details that go into a custom build or renovation. Trust us, more brain power is better.
Hint: if you’re in Florida and want a renovation to take place when you’re up north in the summer, consider reaching out 6-12 months in advance.
Complete the Project Inquiry Form and let’s start the conversation.
Where do you work?
We have studio locations in Nokomis, Florida, and Tryon, North Carolina, but we serve clients nationwide.
If the project is the right fit, we’re happy to travel.
Can you help me understand what my project might cost?
Absolutely. One of the first things people want to know is, “What are we really looking at here?”
Based on your scope, location, and level of finish, we can give you a realistic investment range using past projects as a reference. For larger builds or renovations, we also offer a Feasibility Study – a deeper dive that helps clarify numbers before full design begins.
We believe in real numbers, thoughtful allocations, and helping you invest wisely in your home.
How are your design fees structured?
For our Turn-Key (i.e., Full-Service) projects, we offer a flat design fee based on the designed square footage. Clients appreciate knowing what to expect upfront rather than watching hourly time accumulate.
Other services are customized depending on the scope. Either way, everything is clearly outlined in your Design Agreement, so there are no surprises.
Transparency is important to us.
What does it look like to become a client?
It starts by completing the New Project Inquiry form through our website.
From there:
- We schedule a call to learn more.
- We meet for an Initial Visit ($500, typically 1–2 hours).
- We prepare your Design Agreement and Scope of Work.
- Once signed and your deposit is received, we reserve your place and begin.
Then — the fun begins.
Do you offer furnishing-only services?
Yes. Our No Demo Design service is ideal for clients who want a meaningful transformation without major construction, focusing on furnishings, lighting, paint, wallpaper, millwork enhancements, and styling.
You’d be surprised how impactful a refresh can be when it’s thoughtfully designed.
How involved will we need to be?
As much or as little as you’d like.
Some clients love reviewing every detail and seeing all the options. Others prefer us to guide the ship and present narrowed-down choices. Let us know what you prefer and we can tailor the experience accordingly. Either way, we keep you informed, educated, and confident throughout the process.
